The College of Criminology (now the College of Criminal Justice Education) started to operate in 1994 under Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA) with Associate in Police Science Course (APSC) as one of its pioneering course. This is after the Programming Language Technique College (PLTC) was granted by the Department of Education, Culture & Sports (DECS) its recognition to operate as College and after it was duly registered as PLT College, Inc. with the Security and Exchange Commission (S.E.C.) on October 1991.
Barely after two (2) years of operation, Government Recognition Number 003, series of 1996 was awarded to PLTC to fully recognize its Associate in Police Science Course (APSC). On March 1996, the 1st batch of Police Science students with the total of forty-two (42) were conferred as Associate in Police Science graduates during the commencement exercises.
Most of the first APSC graduates have already been employed in the local units and even national agencies of the government. To cater more to the needs of our community in relation to law enforcement, Bachelor of Science in Criminology was formally offered on June 1996. Most of the Police Science graduates decided to continue and embrace BS Criminology. On July 26, 2000 the Government Recognition (G.R. No. 207 Series of 2000) for the BS Criminology program was issued by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
March 2000 marks the first graduation of the pioneer batch of Bachelor of Science in Criminology with a total of sixty three (63) graduates. Thirty nine (39) of them gallantly joined the 1st Criminology Review and eventually took the Licensure Criminology Board Examination. On September 2000, the result of the Board Examination was released and the result was amazing. The rigid preparation was very fruitful. Thirty (30) of the thirty-nine (39) takers successfully passed and one (1) even landed as top number 20.
The result of the 1st board examination placed PLT College, Inc., Criminology Department as 4th Best School of Criminology entire the Philippines (Bracket B – School with 20 to 49 Takers) and number one (1) best Criminology School in Region 02. With three (3) more batches in the board examination, PLTC College of Criminology was adjudged as 3rd Best Criminology School entire Philippines and consistent number one (1) Best Criminology School in the Region 02.
Aside from being the Best School of Criminology, the College was recognized as having the Best Criminology Laboratory Facilities by the Quality Assessment Team (RQAT) from CHED Regional Office and granted by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA) its candidate status and Level 1status last December 14, 2009 - October 2011 and September 12, 2011 - September 2014 successively.
The great achievement of the College of Criminology in the Criminology Board Examination passing rate paved the way for the awarding of Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP) to the said College as one of the four (4) providers of the said program in Region 02. The said award was given by the CHED central office through the CHEDRO in 2003.
The first program coordinator to man the Associate in Police Science was P/Supt. Reynold Osia (1992 – 1993). He was succeeded by Mr.Honesto Conde (1993 – 1995), followed by Mr.Maruel M.
